Calling All Parrot Heads!!!!!!
We're calling all Parrot Heads to come out and walk as an important part of "Team ParrotHead" to help raise money for a local organization, the Zonta Club of Key West. Zonta is holding their annual "ABC 5K Run/Walk" on Saturday, November 3rd. This organization raises money to cover mammograms, thin-prep pap tests, other diagnostic test and preventive measures for uninsured and underinsured women. Monroe County has some of the highest incidence of breast cancer, because of so many workers living there who have no healthcare. Put On Your Walking Shoes and Help Us Stomp Out Breast Cancer!!!!! Saturday, November 3, the run/walk will begin and end at Salute Restaurant, 1000 Atlantic Blvd., just around the corner from the Casa Marina tennis courts. Registration begins at 7:00 AM. The event starts at 8:00 AM and the course is only 3 short miles. For everyone's entertainment, Jerry Gontang and the Stars On The Water Band will begin playing at 8:30 am and will continue until we all cross the finish line. What a great way to show our support on the last big day of MOTM. Yes, it will mean getting up a wee bit early, but being the Parrot Heads we all are...that surely will not stop us from "Walking For A Purpose." Pre-registration fee is $20.00. Make sure you add your Club Name next to "Team Parrothead.". Pre-registration deadline is Monday, October 29, 2007. Sorry…Thursday Pre-Registration is available only to the MOTM Registered. In addition to the on-site registration at the Casa on Thursday, you can also pre-register at Salute Restaurant on Friday, November 2, from 4 PM - 6 PM or on the morning of the event. On-Site Registration Fee: $25.00. If you are unable to walk and would still like to get involved, we need help with registration on Thursday, November 1, from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Casa during MOTM registration. Please contact caphmobile@aol.com to help. ATLANTA PHC CHALLENGE: The Atlanta ParrotHead Club earmarked $1,000 from money raised on their 2007 Cruise to St. Somewhere for Zonta Key West!! Atlanta PHC members continue to raise money for Zonta today!! ATLANTA PARROT HEAD CLUB challenges all other Parrot Head Clubs to get out and collect for this incredibly worthwhile cause. If your club would like to know more about the “Atlanta PHC Challenge” please contact Charlotte Skinner, caphmobile@aol.com and details will be provided on how to get started. Even if your club may not be able to donate or raise $1000 please help us out and participate any way you can!! In addition to the prizes awarded by Zonta after the walk, there will be a prize for the Parrot Head Club that donates the most money to the event. Cancer has touched us all in one way or another within our families or friends. Please help us show the residents of Key West that we care.
